For many religious and traditional singles, the biggest hesitation about a shidduch site is privacy: who will see my photos? Can anyone look at them? On Gold-Date you decide. You can make your photos private, so they stay blurred and are revealed only to people you approve.
How private photos work
By default, members see your photos as usual. If you prefer, you can switch on private photos:
- Upload your photos — with private photos on, visitors you have not approved see them blurred.
- Someone wants to see them — they send you a request to view your photos.
- You decide — you get a notification and choose whether to approve or decline.
- You stay in control — you can see who asked, whom you approved and whom you declined, and you can take access back at any time.
Why it matters in the religious community
In the religious and Haredi community, tzniut (modesty) is not just a preference — it is a value. Many people hold back from shidduch sites because they do not want their photo seen by everyone, including people who know them. On many dating sites, once you upload a photo, every member can see it.
Private photos change that. You keep your modesty, you choose who sees you, and you move at your own pace. It is one of the three things that make Gold-Date different.
A photo is always optional
You can sign up without any photo at all. If you do add one, every photo is approved by a person before it is shown, and you can decide at any stage whether it is public or private.

You get a notification and can approve or decline in one click. If you approve, that person sees your photos in full; if you decline, they stay blurred.
Do private photos cost extra?
No. Private photos are part of Gold-Date and available to every member, and joining is free.
